We have had a terrific start to the new school year. It has been wonderful to see the students settling into their learning and demonstrating exceptional learning habits.
Student Leader Investiture
We have been through the process of electing students into student leader roles. The following positions have now been filled and these students will be inducted into their roles this Friday at 9:15am in the Hall. Parents are welcome to attend.

We look forward to celebrating their achievements and working with them on their roles throughout this year.
Our Captains (not Senior Leaders, Student Councillors, Sustainability Squad or Student PCL Reps) will be heading to Brisbane next Monday for the annual Halogen Youth Leadership Day.
Resilience
Resilience is very important for us all to live a successful life. It is vital that we support our children to develop this ability to be able to overcome challenges. These challenges could be academic, social and emotional.
“Resilience is the ability to ‘bounce back’ after challenges and tough times".
For children, challenges and tough times include experiences like starting at a new school or kindergarten, moving house, or welcoming a sibling into the family. They can also include serious experiences like being bullied, family breakdown, family illness or death.
Children build resilience over time through experience. You can help your child learn skills and develop resilience by having a warm, supportive relationship with them.
Resilience: why it’s good for children.
Children who are resilient can recover from setbacks and get back to living their lives more quickly. And when children overcome setbacks and problems, it builds their confidence and helps them feel to more capable the next time a problem comes up.
Resilient children are often good at solving problems and learning new skills. This is because they’re more willing to try again, even if things don’t go the way they want the first time.
Pick Up Lane Expectations
Thank you to all parents who obey the rules and who are patient in the pick up lane at the beginning and end of the school day.
Unfortunately, we have some families who are not following the pick up procedures and are putting their child and other children at risk of being hurt by a car.
Pick up Line Expectations:
* Children are not to enter cars prior to the first zebra crossing. The pick up zone, where it is safe for children to enter, is between the zebra crossing and the dental van undercover area.
* Cars are not to pull out of the pick up lane prior to the first zebra crossing as this halts traffic and is dangerous for other children.
* If you are wanting to get out of your car to pick up your child, please park in the car park.
* If you are in the pick up zone, please stay in your car at all times.
* Follow the car in front.
* Obey the staff member on the crossing that will allow children to cross exiting the school.
It is important that we all follow the expectations so that we keep all our children safe.
Have a great week!

Principal
From the Deputy Principal - Mrs Martin
Happy Week 4 to our Bellmere Community,
PCL Update
An integral part of any PCL team is parent representatives. This enables a cross section of our school community (staff, students and parents) coming together to discuss and inform decisions in continuing the creation and growth of a positive culture for learning at our wonderful school. If you are interested in joining our PCL committee (meetings are every second Wednesday morning at 8am), please send me an email at cmart315@eq.edu.au. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Our Bellmere State School Values and Expectations Matrix is attached below. This Matrix is what all students strive to demonstrate daily including our 3 values – We are honest and respectful; We are determined to achieve; We care for ourselves and others. The expectations are the way we show our values. Bella Bucks are our schoolwide acknowledgement for students displaying our values.
Prep Precinct
A friendly reminder to ensure the gate into the Prep Precinct is closed after entering and after leaving this area. We need to ensure safety for all, especially our students during this transition to and from school.
Enjoy your fortnight,
Candy Martin
From the Deputy Principal - Mrs Lyons
Greetings to our Bellmere Community,
It was lovely to see our Year 5 campers off to camp this morning. Many excited students and staff looking forward to some activity -packed days. We look forward to welcoming them back on Wednesday afternoon and hearing about their camping stories.
We have booked our second Volunteer Induction for Wednesday 12th March starting at 9:00. Our volunteers are so valuable in supporting the smooth running of our school. STUDENT RESOURCE SCHEME PAYMENTS
Thank you to all parents who have made payments towards the Student Resource Scheme for 2025.
Payments can be made at anytime using the invoice BPoint link (amount can be changed to suit), via the QKR! App, direct deposit into the school bank account (BSB- 064-405 ACC – 10700604 using surname and SRS as reference) or by EFT in the office. If you made an instalment arrangement, the 3rd and final payment was due back in Week 10 of Term 2.
We are happy to arrange alternative payment plans or Centrepay deductions if this method is not possible. Please email Sue Taylor, Business Manager, on stayl375@eq.edu.au or admin@bellmeress.eq.edu.au to arrange this. Students will be able to receive their resources once a payment has been made.
QPARENTS
QParents links directly with One School, the program used by the school to store student information including personal details, absences, all report cards and finance information. Registration will need to be completed on a computer and then all further interactions can be done through the App on a phone or tablet. New parents will receive a QParents invitation code in the next week or two and current parents should already have received theirs previously. This link will guide you through the registration process. The fact sheet is provided for your information. If you cannot find your invitation email please send a request to admin@bellmeress.eq.edu and a new email will be sent to you. Your child’s EQ id is on the invoices we send you, directly below the address box at the top left of the invoice.
SIGN OUT PROCESS
We will continue the same sign out process for when children are leaving school early. Parents will need to come to the office, sign their children out on the iPad in the reception area. Parents will receive a printed slip which they will show the office staff who will let them through the office door. Parents will then go to the child’s classroom, give the printed slip to the teacher and collect the child. At break times the child will be called over the load speaker as it is difficult to locate the child during break times.
There will be a specialist timetable on the wall near the iPad so parents can see where their child is located in the school. Also, teachers will have a notice on their door to indicate where the class is. Eg STEM, MUSIC, PE, Library.
Steps to sign children out early:
- Sign your child out on the ipad in the foyer.
- Collect the printed sign out ticket.
- Show the office staff the ticket, they will let you into the school.
- Walk to your child’s classroom.
- Give the printed ticket to the classroom teacher.
- Collect your child and exit via the office administration.
It is very important that the school is notified of any student absences. The Department of Education requires a reason for each and every absence.
The methods for advising absences are as follows:
By email - admin@bellmeress.eq.edu.au
By telephone - 5498 0666 - there is a dedicated absentee line where you can leave a message 24 hours per day.
Q Parents - if you have registered for the Q Parents app, you can advise absences this way
The uniform shop will be open after school on Tuesday’s from 3:00-3.30pm.
However, QKR! ordering will remain the same and orders will still be delivered to your child’s class on Monday’s, Wednesday’s & Friday’s.
Thank you.

We have been a busy focusing on getting to know families and settling into the school year. Upon our return, we read Mrs Clarkes and Miss Cameron’s favourite book ‘I’m a Dirty Dinosaur’ and did lots of fun sensory activities!

To celebrate Chinese New Year we made some colourful lanterns - this was to celebrate the Chinese Lantern Festival on the 12 February 2025!

A favourite amongst our KindyLinQ kids was building towers and making creations in our outside area. Playdough is a crowd favourite and everyone loved hiding the tiny teddies and colourful buttons! To end the session we read 'Where's My Teddy'?
