From the Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

ANZAC DAY CEREMONY

Last Thursday we held our annual ANZAC Day Ceremony. This was a very special service for our school community and visitors at our school. Our students were amazing during the ceremony and showed great respect for the occasion. We are very proud of our students. Our special guests commented on how wonderful our children were and how respectful they were for the occasion. Thank you to Mrs Lyons for organising the event.

Thank you to all the students and staff who were at the ANZAC Day Caboolture service on Friday morning. We had a number of staff there to support our students.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

It was wonderful seeing our parents at the Parent/Teacher interviews last night. It is always nice to hear the great learning of the students but also the great comments from our parents regarding their child’s classroom teacher and the progress their child has made.

This shows a true partnership between the school and families.

PICK UP LANE AND CARPARK EXPECTATIONS

Last week we had a Facebook post regarding our pick up lane and respect for staff and other parents. By modelling respectful behaviour, we set a positive example for our children and help to create a school culture that values kindness, patience, and understanding.

As a school community, we pride ourselves on fostering a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all students, staff, and families. We are writing to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining respectful interactions in all areas of school life.

Thank you to all parents who obey the rules and who are patient in the pick up lane at the beginning and end of the school day.

Unfortunately, we have some families who are not following the pick up procedures and are putting their child and other children at risk of being hurt by a car.

In particular, we ask for your continued cooperation during afternoon pick-up times. This is a busy period in our school day, and it’s vital that we all work together to ensure it runs smoothly and safely. We kindly remind parents and carers to:

  • Speak and behave respectfully to staff, students, and other parents.
  • Follow the directions of school staff supervising dismissal procedures.
  • Park responsibly and safely in the right areas, observing any signage, keeping driveways clear and not parking in restricted areas.
  • Be patient and courteous, even during peak congestion times.
  • Children are not to enter cars prior to the first zebra crossing.  The pick up zone, where it is safe for children to enter, is between the zebra crossing and the dental van undercover area.
  • Cars are not to pull out of the pick up lane prior to the first zebra crossing as this halts traffic and is dangerous for other children. Weaving in and out of the line is not appropriate and is unsafe.
  • If you are wanting to get out of your car to pick up your child, please park in the car park.
  • If you are in the pick up zone, please stay in your car at all times.
  • Follow the car in front.

It is important that we all follow the expectations so that we keep all our children safe. It was also posted in week 4 of Term 1. The Leadership team are continuing to work with parents who don’t follow the expectations.

HEAD TO HEALTH

I am very excited to announce a partnership with Head to Health Kids.

Head to Health offer free mental health and wellbeing support for children up to 12, with developmental, behavioural, and, or emotional challenges.

Please come along and meet the team. There will be time for you to be able to talk to the team about your child if you have any questions.

Please see the email that was sent to all parents last Wednesday 23rd April.
