Dear Parents and Carers,
The children have been working very hard this term. It is hard to believe we are in Week 8 with only three weeks remaining of Term 3! It has been wonderful seeing the great level of learning happening in our school. This term in English, our students have been preparing a presentation to an audience. Some children are going to be presenting it to the class, some are recording it on their iPad and others are presenting to small groups. I can’t wait to see these presentations.
Last week we had two Maths consultants come in to work with some of our staff and children. We have formed a three year partnership with Maths consultants and three other schools. The focus is to develop children’s skills in mathematics. This includes number fluency (being able to add, subtract, multiple and divide) and for the children to be able to think mathematically to justify their answers to problems. This is a large component of our Mathematics curriculum.
Last week we also had our Winter Warmers music concert for our instrumental children. It was wonderful to see our band perform. We had many children brave enough to perform individually and as groups. The children have come so far during this year. Music is an important component of development, as it supports the integration of the left and right hand side of the brain. Early next term, enrolment for the instrumental program will begin for children in Years 4 – 6 for 2026.
Over the next two week we get to celebrate Book Week. Next week we have our Book Fair and then in Week 10 on Monday morning, we have our Book Character Parade in the hall. All parents are welcome.
SCHOOL REVIEW
Every four years schools have a review. During this time, we will have three reviewers come to our school to talk to staff, Parents, EC’s and Secondary Schools regarding our school. Areas the reviewers discuss with the school community are how we improve as a school, improving student outcomes, promoting a culture of learning, implementing effective teaching practices and working with the school community.
Our school review is Week 10 of this term (Tuesday 16th Sept – Thursday 18th Sept). During this time parents will have an opportunity to speak to the reviewers.
CLEAN CLAUDE
It is very exciting to introduce Clean Claude. Claude is our roaming gnome that has been introduced by our sustainability squad. Our sustainability squad does audits in the different areas of the school. In their audits, they look at any rubbish laying around, making sure paper, poppers, rubbish, and food scraps are all in the correct bins.
We will have a Claude for the 3–6 area and the P–2. The gnome is presented at each assembly to the year level with the cleanest area and for using the bins correctly.
Last week’s winner was Year 5.
PARKING IN THE BUS STOP
We have had several parents park in the bus stop at the end of the school day. This area is a no parking zone. I ask those parents who park in this area to find another area to park.
We have had notification that the council parking inspectors will be present in the next couple of weeks.
It is important we obey all parking, pick up lane and car park rules. This is for the safety of all children and parents. No one wants to see someone get injured.
PARENT CONTACT
I would like to thank all our parents who communicate respectfully with our staff. We will strive to continue to develop positive relationships between home and school. It is important we approach any conversation with a calm approach.
It is disappointing and disrespectful when we have parents email staff putting them down and make accusations against their character and against them as professionals. We have had parents swearing in conversation which is unacceptable. We are in a primary school setting and must be mindful of the way we talk in front of the children and around children. I know we can get upset when something happens to our children, but it is important we display the appropriate behaviour when addressing the situation. Teachers, staff and parents are role models for our students. We all must model the appropriate behaviour and language.
REMINDER! THIS FRIDAY IS A STUDENT FREE DAY AND NO STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED AT SCHOOL.

PCL
Over the next 2 weeks students will be discussing savouring success and small wins. Savouring can take many different forms including standing barefoot on the beach and appreciating the salty sea air and the sound of crashing waves; sense of pride you feel when you accomplish something like a piece of writing, doing well in a sporting event, or helping another person learn something new; reminiscing about experiences by looking at photos or videos. All these experiences can intensify and prolong positive emotions. Savouring is a skill each of us can learn.
Classes will move to focussing further on resilience. It is common to think about big achievements, or times when a person has overcome a challenge to achieve a goal. These moments can feel very affirming, but they do not happen every day. This is why it is important to explore daily instances, choices, and actions that represent resilience. A key message is that we can build our resilience over time. We increase our resilience through consistent practise.

Greetings to our Bellmere Community,
New computers coming!!
To keep you all updated, we have two new fully equipped laptop trolleys coming our way very shortly. These (plus the one that we already have) will replace our computer lab in the library. We are moving from a stationary lab to a portable option so that teachers have greater access to devices in their classroom spaces, and to ensure that our resource centre can function as a quiet library space for students and classes to enjoy. Laptops will also help our senior students to practice the skills needed so they are ready for high school.
These laptops are in the process of being imaged and connected to our network and will be in operation by the beginning of next term. How exciting!!

STUDENT RESOURCE SCHEME PAYMENTS
Thank you to all parents who have made payments towards the Student Resource Scheme for 2025.
Payments can be made at anytime using the invoice BPoint link (amount can be changed to suit), via the QKR! App, direct deposit into the school bank account (BSB- 064-405 ACC – 10700604 using surname and SRS as reference) or by EFT in the office. If you made an instalment arrangement, the 3rd and final payment is due now.
We are happy to arrange alternative payment plans or Centrepay deductions if this method is not possible. Please email Sue Taylor, Business Manager, on stayl375@eq.edu.au or admin@bellmeress.eq.edu.au to arrange this. Students will be able to receive their resources once a payment has been made.
QPARENTS
QParents links directly with One School, the program used by the school to store student information including personal details, absences, all report cards and finance information. Registration will need to be completed on a computer and then all further interactions can be done through the App on a phone or tablet. New parents will receive a QParents invitation code in the next week or two and current parents should already have received theirs previously. This link will guide you through the registration process. The fact sheet is provided for your information. If you cannot find your invitation email please send a request to admin@bellmeress.eq.edu and a new email will be sent to you. Your child’s EQ id is on the invoices we send you, directly below the address box at the top left of the invoice.
UNIFORM SHOP
The uniform shop will be open after school on Tuesday’s from 3:00-3.30pm.
However, QKR! ordering will remain the same and orders will still be delivered to your child’s class on Monday’s, Wednesday’s & Friday’s.
SIGN OUT PROCESS
We will continue the same sign out process for when children are leaving school early. Parents will need to come to the office, sign their children out on the iPad in the reception area. Parents will receive a printed slip which they will show the office staff who will let them through the office door. Parents will then go to the child’s classroom, give the printed slip to the teacher and collect the child. At break times the child will be called over the load speaker as it is difficult to locate the child during break times.
There will be a specialist timetable on the wall near the iPad so parents can see where their child is located in the school. Also, teachers will have a notice on their door to indicate where the class is. Eg STEM, MUSIC, PE, Library.
Steps to sign children out early:
- Sign your child out on the ipad in the foyer.
 - Collect the printed sign out ticket.
 - Show the office staff the ticket, they will let you into the school.
 - Walk to your child’s classroom.
 - Give the printed ticket to the classroom teacher.
 - Collect your child and exit via the office administration.

It is very important that the school is notified of any student absences. The Department of Education requires a reason for each and every absence.
The methods for advising absences are as follows:
By email - admin@bellmeress.eq.edu.au
By telephone - 5498 0666 - there is a dedicated absentee line where you can leave a message 24 hours per day.
Q Parents - if you have registered for the Q Parents app, you can advise absences this way.

Last week at KindyLinQ - Our KindylinQ kids had a Wild Day at the Zoo!
We had so much fun exploring our zoo theme today at KindylinQ!
The children painted fierce lions using forks and brushes — lots of creativity and texture play! We made our very own giraffes, and there was even a “zoo ticket booth” where children could role-play buying tickets. On the floor, we set up a small-world zoo — full of imaginative play and storytelling.
In our sensory tray, we had squelchy oobleck and zoo animals — it was delightfully messy and full of discovery! Outside, the big black tray turned into a painting zone — bright colours, big brushes, and even bigger smiles!
Children zoomed up and down the path on ride-ons, built with large wooden blocks in the sandpit, and shared lots of laughs with their friends.
We also practiced scissor skills, drew ourselves as explorers, and used the magnetic boards — which gave some of our parents great travel-friendly play ideas!
It was a fantastic day of learning through play, exploring new textures, building fine motor skills, and making memories together.
We love learning at KindylinQ!
KindyLinQ - Week 8 – Community Helpers
We learned about community helpers like police, vets, and SES workers. A new family who have moved from New Zealand and recently joined KindyLinQ was curious about the SES, so we had a chat about how they help in emergencies!
We matched pictures of helpers on our Duplo blocks and played with puppets, which everyone loved. Our farm house was on fire (pretend!), and we became firefighters using spray bottles to put out the flames.
Outside, the sandpit and mud kitchen were full of busy play — cooking, creating, and building. Some friends practised their balancing skills, too!
Inside, we took fingerprints like the police and made our own helper puppets to take home. What a fun and busy day!
